Photographic Memoir

There were two remaining WW2 veterans at our 8th May 2009 VE day ceremony in Sainte-Cécile.

The children of the Commune's primary schools read the names from the village war memorial during the service.

One of the schools is named after Jacques MOREAU, who was the son of its headmistress in the 1930's. Jacques was executed, aged 22 and in a barbaric manner, by the Nazi authorities in 1944 for belonging to a resistance movement.

To brush up your primary school French, and to see the planting of L'Arbre de la Paix, click on the Résistance colour pic. There is a 9-minute film about hope and peace which the schoolchildren made of their activities.
